PEDRO DE SAISSET

Prime mover in building the Electric Tower in San Jose
Pedro de Saisset is a member of a distinguished French family, and was
born in the city of Paris. He emigrated from France near the time of
the gold rush intending to capitalize on the newfound wealth in the
region. While in the area, he served as a consular representative in
San Jose and founded the Brush Electric Light company in San Jose,
California. Pedro had four children: Henriette, Ernest, Pierre, and
Isabel. Their elder son, Ernest Pedro de Saisset, has developed great
talent for art and in 1895 Ernest returned to San Jose and set up a
studio in the de Saisset family home on South Market Street, located
on property now occupied by the The Tech Museum of Innovation.
